Your Future Your Foster Carer/Key Worker and Social Worker will help you to think about your future. After you are 16 years old your Social Worker will work with you to help plan for your future. |
This is called your Pathway Plan. The plan should say how the City of York Council will help you to develop your independency and think about where you will live, education, training, or employment and to achieve the things you want in life.
This plan should say what help you will get when getting ready to leave care and what support you will get after you have left.
You will get a Pathway Worker at 17.5 years old who will continue to support you with your Pathway Plan help you get the support you would like.
After you turn 18 years old, although you are no longer a child, you will still have support from the Pathway service until you are 25.
You are entitled to a bus pass so that you can travel for free on York's First buses. You can ask your Social Worker or Foster Carer to arrange this for you. If you live outside of York, you can still speak to your Social Worker about how we can support you to travel around where you live.
You may also be entitled to a bus pass after you turn 21. This is if you are in education, training or an apprenticeship. Speak to your Social Worker or Pathway Worker for more details.
You are entitled to a funded 'Better' gym membership which you can use at Energise Leisure Centre, Yearsley Pool, Burnholme and York Leisure Centre.
Under 16 Membership includes, access to swimming, junior gym and junior fitness classes (where available). It also includes an online library of fitness classes you can access from home.
16-25 years Membership includes; access to swimming, any gym and fitness classes. It also includes an online library of fitness classes you can access from home.
Lessons and Courses - There is a limited number of swimming and climbing courses available, subject to availability.
If you would like a Better gym membership, please ask your Social Worker who can arrange this for you.
If you are aged 16+ you can get a one year membership at York Sport Village which is located at the University of York's East Campus in Heslington.
This includes the use of fitness classes, swimming pool, gym and Health Suite facilities such as sauna and jacuzzi.
If you are aged over 16 and would like a York Sport membership, please ask your Social Worker who can arrange this for you.
If you do not live in York and would like a gym membership, please speak to your Social Worker.
